Hi Guys,

I am thinking once more about getting a 355 - can you remind me of what running costs I should allow for to do say 8000 miles year?

In addition do red cars hold their value more than other colours?

Cheers for your help

Check out the Verdi banner above for an idea on sevicing prices. Remember that there will almost always be 'extras' required, before you get on to tyres etc.

Probably budget around 2.5k a year (maybe 3.5k every 3rd year - belt service + clutch) plus a slush fund of 5k for anything unforseen (exhaust manifolds for example). F1 cars appear to cost a bit more.

Red cars seem easier (quicker) to sell on. In the 348 world non-red cars seem to go for 2-3k less than a comparable rosso example.

Depreciation will probably be a bigger factor, if you put another 25000 miles on a 25000 example over 3 years it will probably lose a bit.

I'm looking for one currently and I reckon your biggest cost will be depreciation if you're intending to do 8k a year.

You will probably go through a set of tyres (rear) each year which will be around £200 each and then as mentioned one service.

£5k slush fund is advisable from what I've reading for those little bits and pieces that might come up. Also don't forget you'll want a Tubi exhaust if the car you buy hasn't already got one.

Have a look here:

Normal annual around £1k, with belts £2k. You will prob go through 4 tyres as mentioned @ £200 each. Watch out for manifolds -£1k a side- , clutch wear -£800-, excessive oil consumption, and finally be prepared for depreciation . Resale red with crema is usually the colour first time Ferrari buyers go for and is easier to move on @ resale time.Non red cars are usually £2k cheaper but some rare colours a bit less than that.
Check out www.the355.com for more info and use archives on here too. There's a lot of info about. Good luck

Mine is in having its first service etc. since i've had it and its going to be a hell of a lot more than the 'menu's' you see advertised! My clutch was quoted at £650+VAT then i was told that the thrust release bearing was rattling slightly and could do with changing at a further £395+VAT!!!! They're also telling me that the head has cracked since they've had it yet its still my fault!!!!!! These first few months of living the dream are turning into a nightmare!
