The revised and 'F1-ised' Fuji is a truly dreadful place, too. If you have the GT4 game you may have driven it - full of 2nd gear corners and entirely devoid of flow. They've taken a classic circuit and turned it into a car park autotest. A hideous carbuncle that makes the dreary Hungaroring look like Spa.
Another fabulous commercial decision from Ecclestone. He's doubtless made a couple of quid out of it though, so that makes it all okay.
First Spa, now Suzuka. The two greatest drivers' circuits gone, along with the threat that Monza may lose its race also. It's disgusting, frankly.

Why not go back to the Ti Aida circuit and be done with it? Or better still for the console generation they could move the GP to downtown Tokyo, all neon lights and giant pointy arrows to help the drivers know which way to turn.

Let's think about this for a second.
Toyota are dying to go one-up on Honda every chance they get, but especially in motorsport, where they have lagged.
They decide to pour a ridiculous amount of money into their circuit in the hope that Bernie will put it on the F1 calendar.
Bernie & Max's strategy to retain their stranglehold on F1 has been to work on the members of the GPMA, one at a time.
They pay Ferrari to betray the GPMA ($100,000,000 goes a long way), then Red Bull gets Ferrari engines (sheer coincidence, I'm sure), then Red Bull buys Minardi and by another sheer coincidence is allowed to use the Red Bull chassis instead of having to devise its own. The FIA craft the new formula to appeal specifically to indies such as Midland and Williams. Amazingly, shockingly, Midland and Williams are the next to come across.
Amongst the remaining breakaway GPMA five, Toyota are broadly believed to be the weakest link. Now if you give Toyota what they desperately want, their own GP, might they - if we really stretch our imaginations to their limits - just maybe, possibly, theoretically be a teeny, weeny bit inclined to fold their tents too and come over to Bernie and Max?
No, everyone involved is much too principled for that. They only want what would be in the best interests of the "sport".

I think it will, as Bernie seems to put in genuine effort to keep (some of) the good tracks - Spa and Suzuka.
Strange that Japan will have two grand prix but only last week Ecclestone was saying it was unsustainable for italy and germany and "france" to have two grand prix.
I would happily lose one of the german races, but both of the Italian tracks are important historical races (though if one had to go it would better be imola, it's more of a shadow of its former self than monza is).
