From experience TVR seemed to use the colour of wires they had most of at the time, green was very popular at one stage. There was at the time an automotive industry agreed wiring colour code (black=earth, Blue with white trace= headlights, red=sidelights, white=ignition l/t, yellow=overdrive, etc.) its printed in full in the Haynes 'Auto Electrician' handbook. I don't have a soft copy but if you think it would be useful I'm sure we could sort something out.

Are you rewiring your car totally or are you just trying to sort out a problem?
When I rewired my S3 I used the old loom as a pattern to get the wire lengths right and then used the 'S' wiring diagram as a guide to putting in more fuses and relays. I never got round to drawing up a full wiring diagram, but I can let you have copies of what the fuse and relay setup is. Let me know if I can help further.

If you go to www.hockerley.freeserve.co.uk/graphics/wirediag.jpg there is a Vixen wiring diagram. Excellent site too.

I've just fitted an alternator . . . .changed the wiring using the same principals I used for both my Cortinas . . . .it charges better, and my lights dont dim, but the wipers are really slow and the ignition light glows when you switch everything on.

I have the lucas recommended colour chart, and 4 similar wiring looms . . . .If I could find my multimeter Id be able to trace things, its just that the wiring on the regulator is all different colours to everything else, and the colours where I think they should go are different again!

I've looked at that site, very good, and Ive done exactly the same with my wiring . . . .I dont get it . . .my car has obviously been rewired to some extent, I think Im goin to have to spend some time sorting it all out as its just not right.

I had to bump start it last night . . .not easy!

just as well I have a trusty reliable 39 year old Ford Cortina to do the 60 mile daily work run ;-)

Sounds like another adventure in carcheology In the past, a good meter to trace the wiring and a bag full of new Lucas bullet connectors have gone a long way to solve most of the electrical problems with our 2500. Good luck!
