Find myself at a funny junction.. Kept my TVR Tuscan all the way through a house extension with clever tactics with the wife, then 3 week ago I sell the TVR crying in the dealership - and then the wife leaves me two weeks later! Still not all bad, still have my Mk1 cooper S red black roof! where should I take it are there any mini events worth going to? need to get it out and have a laugh.

Sorry to hear about your woes.

Still, at least you sold the Tuscan and not your Mini.

I too want to hear of some decent Mini events this year as my Minis both need some exercise.

Come and marshall on the Chelmsford Motor Club 'East Anglian Classic Rally' this weekend. It's based in Norwich and I'm at no 3 in my 1310 'S' with Geoff Twigg at no 5 in his 1275 'S'.
The Chelmsford Motor Club web site has contact details. If you do make it come and say hello.

I was very sad day when I sold the Tuscan I had a good one!! and we supply parts to the factory so I got on well with them all at TVR. But the Mini will never be sold.
BUT
I am not to sure about taking the mini to places? I took it to one of the Mini birthday parties at silverstone and everyone asked if it was its first shell and why this? and why that? then I left the lights on!!!, which broke something else and the battery got to hot and broke! we then got home at 3am on a AA truck!

We are over this now, but I do want to get it out and do a few events and meet a few people who can help me clean it up a bit over the coming winter. Maybe even meet a mini girlie.

Cooperman I would love to come along but I am not sure about this weekend and work? when's the next event? and where is it?
My S is a 1310 could be a 1340 we have never been to sure but its fast enough and has done a couple of rally's. Has period rally stuff on it to SCut gears and Fly off hand brake and a Roll Cage etc etc, so I do like period ralling and would love to come along.

Come down to Cornwall and one night we can see who can get from St Ives to Sennen along "that road" the quickest.

I've had a hideous breakup recently and have been feeling pretty shitty, however the mini is automotive healing. Just go out and hoon around for a bit.

That's saying something, my mate has an S2 vixen and when I drive it, it goes bloody fast, allegedly the best handling TVR.

I had a race with a German in a 911 along that road and he would catch me on the straights but I lost him on the windy bits. That was in my 64 with a hairy 1275! When we got to St Ives, he pulled alongside and said "You arre ah crahzy hinglishman" and I said "I'm Cornish, mate!"

I reckon that road is one where a Caterfield would be hard put to keep up with a hairy mini.

Drove along there the other day in my mates Carlton engined Suzuki SJ410 Jeep with me standing up checking for oncoming traffic so that we could use all the road

My Tuscan was quick I got caught over taking 7 cars in one go in a mean average timed zone. it got me at 87mph in a 60 and I got 6 points and £180.00 fine. and it took two cop cars plus a helicopter to get me on the A515? A513? to Buxton. And I got done for being rasist as when the police asked why i was speeding? I said 'union jack pants on the TVR had to overtake the BMW M5'. German crap with 2 70 year olds in it. I nearly took its mirrors off.

BUT...!!! My cooper S is still the only car to have got the police to the house! and the only car that has made a grown man scream as we went into derby doing real speed in a 30 zone to go round a 90 bend with him shouting I can't get my belts done up and this is faster than a caterham!

You can't beat seeing a golf or BMW driver, look in his mirrors and your still there!! in a 1967 cooper S. Its just the best feeling.

I have put my S on my profile can't get it from there on to the message bit?
and sorry for the spelling?

Sorry to hear about your problems, that sure is a bummer.

Anyway, here are a few events to get yourself to.

The first one is organised by me, and is in aid of breast cancer research.

www.minievents.org/features/blackpool-run-06.html

This one is one of the most famous, if its too late to enter then pop down on the day, its awesome.

www.london-to-brighton.co.uk/

This is a very popular event run every year through the English Lake district's finest roads

www.minimadmerseyside.co.uk/

and this is one of the biggest shows of the year

www.mini-in-the-park.co.uk/

anyway, thats just a few events to haul your ass down too

I love that also. There is a very steep long hill nearish me (Haldon Hill) and I remember going up it at 100 in the mini overtaking everything and still had power to spare. I remember looking at people in the mirror and seeing the "B reg? Is that 1964?"

My chum's bashed up suzuki jeep takes the biscuit though. It will out accellerate anything to 90 pretty much! You see various boy racers in their kev cars and then they get eaten by this smashed up jeep. Awesome.

I reckon a PH Mini day would be a good idea.
