Hi I have just recently purchased a RX8 and going on holiday of Sunday.

The airport parking I use (APH at Gatwick, UK) has valet parking where they take your car and park it off somewhere and when you return they have moved it back from storage for you to pick up from the reception. hope you know what i mean.

Only thing is I am getting paranoid that i am going to come back to a flooded car which results in me calling out Mazda - the last thing I need after a long flight!

I plan to put following polite note out to remind the valet not to turn off the engine cold. something along the lines:

"Warning

DO NOT TURN THIS CAR OFF WITH COLD ENGINE !

If engine is cold run for it at least 3 minutes before turning off.

Failure to do this can result in flooded engine and problems to restart.

To restart stalled or flooded engine depress accelerator to floor and crank for 10 seconds, pause for 20 seconds and crank again."

Do you think that this is ok? anything wrong or missing?

Here's hoping the guy actually takes notice!

I'm sure that the engine will be pretty warm after the valet monkey has ragged it round a few laps of the car park!

The other way is to rev to 4k and switch off with foot still in the gas pedal, shouldn't flood.
Had mine 16mnths and never flooded even though the missus has stalled it a few times while reversing off the drive

We used this system for the last holiday and it's bloody brilliant. We used Gatwick and the chap who dropped the car off was an older bloke and took good care of the Jeep.

Wouldn't dare do it in the RX though.

It shouldn't take 3 mins - as long as the revs have dropped to a minimum of 1250 on tick over, you'll be fine. I picked up my RX8 from Luton after being in a similar kind of car park for a week. The car had been moved out to the pick up bay and there wasn't a problem. This is the 2nd time I've done this without a problem. That said, putting the note inside the car wouldn't hurt.
