Are these worth buying.

Saw a nice one at the weekend but its a N/A car with an autobox.

Is this worth buying as a nice grand tourer?

What kind of power (and torque) does the 3 litre N/A car have. Will it shift or will it be a dog. Bearing in mind that anythings quicker than my current hack.

Its a 96 car (on a private plate) going for 7K. It looks like its in good nick, certainly the paintwork was in good nick for a 69,000 mile car and it looked standard.

I'm not into max power style cars so I'd only go for a totally standard car.

So, does anyone have any exprience of the 4 speed auto cars?

They are nice cars. They are well built and very reliable if left unmolested.
240bhp standard if I remember correctly for an NA.

Personally I wouldn't buy the auto version. Its a good strong unit don't get me wrong but for a car like that you want to be able to drive it in your own chosen gear. There is a 6-speed NA available as an import as well as the 5-speed manual (well all NA Supras are imports anyhow).

But if you like your cruising then I suppose the auto will be as good a choice as a manual. I suppose it comes down to how you want to drive the car at the end of the day.

I have the UK-spec 6-speed Twin Turbo version but I did test drive a number of other versions before I decided on my chosen model.
In 1st and 2nd gears (on the manual) the NA really does shift and they are nice handling cars.

I'd reccommend you drive both the manual and the auto before spending your money. Maybe even try a twin turbo as some of the import versions are dropping below the £6k mark.

£7k for a 69K miles NA Supra is a bit pricey in my opinion. For that money you could pick up an equivalent milage import twin turbo. Insurance costs are suprisingly similar for both import Supras.
