Mainly directed at Gaz I suppose, but please feel free to chime in.

OK my problem here is I love tracking cars. BUT, the VVTi 6 speeds are rare, and mine is pretty new being a 1999 so I dont want to ruin it.

So I had a thought. Buy a ropey old 6 speed from Japan, swap some of the more track oriented parts onto that, therefore de-speccing mine a bit in the process, subsequently reducing the asking price a fair bit ( still singled, etc tho). Then I could strip the trackday one, and not be worried about any damage of mechanical sympathy etc.

Does that sound reasonable?

I thought change the supsension from the high end coil overs, Normal rad, ARB's and leave the cams as they were when you went in her. Like you say the NOS, Line lock, ali header tank and silly sundries like the tiny battery ( but £150 battery!!). That little lot equates to about £3k off the asking price and can all be reused on a track car.

As for the turbo, I have a spare 4" Downpipe and midpipe, another development turbo that I was going to throw on mine, and an intake so I just need the Boostlogic header and HKS wastegate and I am in business.

I would leave the brakes as they are as the car would still need to stop so that would detract from tha package.

Dudes brakes have gone already, and TBH everything else from his car was for Drag Racing as opposed to track.

I have had not complaints so far about open wastegate but may need to look at recircing in the future.

I would probably use Brembo's, but the 4pot/2 pot set up wit good pads and good fluid has never failed me.

Weight wise, reckon you could shift 100-150kg from one.

on the 4" exhaust, I have some very nice inline silencers I want to try and place at some point. The bung is just a quick fix.

Absolutely the way to go for noise control. I replaced the cat on mine with a silenced mid-box (that flows well) and it only increaced the noise a little (and made it nicer!). Decent quality silencing is well worth the cost and effort but can be a bit trial-and-error. I was lucky in having a quiet backbox on mine to start with.

Many of us who track rx7s have noise problems but much of it is from things like the waste gates and dump valves. Recirc/plumbed into exhaust is a good thing.

Being limited to 102db and over days would eb a real pain as many are 97/98db

One of our guys had problems at Brands so he popped a bung in. Still recorded 127db down the Brabham streight (some 40m fromt eh noise tester) - mainly due to the waste gate venting to atmos.

No fun doing two laps and getting pulled in.

A bit more noise than Gaz's waft-mobile would be nice though

your kidding:
single kit with 61/67 = 20kg saving
front seat for race seat = 13.6kg saving
Battery = 5kg
Front Bumper bar 2kg
Front tow hooks = 2kg x 2
Rear tow hook
Enging lift hooks = 1 kg x 2
BL Mid/down pipe = 5kg
Charcoal canister = 1kg
Rear seat back = 8kg
Spare wheel = 17 kg
Jack/handle = 2.5KG

Thats 80+kg off the top of my head right there without really trying
