evening all,
I'm planning on taking my new 430 to visit some of the wifes relatives (she's flying with son, I'm driving...) in the Languedoc region in the South of France.
I was planning on taking 2 days to complete the journey and wondered if any of you knew of any hotels in the 'middle'of France (I didn't do geography at school...) around the Clermont ferrand area (from looking at the map).
Ideally a quiet place with decent security for the motor, good food/wine etc
If anyone can recommend anywhere, it's you lot - I'll post pictures if you'd like. Should be here in next few weeks so just need to find somewhere to kip for the night.
Any ideas?
James

Worth trying the following website for Relais et Chateaux - has some great hotels in France listed.

Another great place is the Hotel Montrachet in Puligny Montrachet. I've used this as a mid way stop en route to Monaco - it's a lovely small hotel where the wine is predictably fantastic. www.le-montrachet.com/index_fr.htm
Kind regards
Steve

What better way to run the new car in....
I've had to part exchange my annual pilgrimage to Le Mans for a trip down to the South of France with the wife as she is pregnant and she has been asking for the past 3 years to be fair... oh well
Please let me know how your journey goes as i am trying to plan our two week trip.
Good Luck!

Hello,
I stayed at the Hotel d'Angleterre in Chalons en Champagne a few years ago. The owner has a garage over the raod he let us put the car in and the food was excellent - it was highly rated in some food guide (at the time anyway so may be as well to check incase it has changed hands).
Regards,
Robin

Another one in the Relais and Chateaux group, very close to Clermont-Ferrand is www.codignat.com/. Very nice place and once you notice the prices include dinner it's a pretty good deal as well.
Fairly easy to get to and about as good as half way to your destination that you can 'reasonably' do in one day (assuming that's your plan).
