Hi all

Recently bought a lovely club sport for everyday use and occasional track jaunts. I will be doing approx 12K a year in it and I'm a crap singer, so it needs something better than the current set up. Has a decent pioneer 6 changer and the standard crappy speakers.

Is there a 'no brainer' speaker/ amp upgrade I should opt for; the head unit is only about 18 months old and was about £300 so half decent.

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a ice 'expert' in the London E11 area?

Try MBQuart for the speakers. German made, good quality, and available in unobtrusive sizes. They make them in 3 ranges (I think) that vary in price, so you could look at what suits your budget. I've faffed around with stereo upgrades on a couple of my cars recently, and the MBs were the best speakers I came across. Not sure about the amps, as I was principally focused on keeping everything as unobtrusive and as original-looking as possible, which meant I went for the smallest and lightest units I could find. Everything had to be carefully hidden, as flashy and ostentatious ICE is about as cool as bicycle clips.

On another note, had to post a picture of the new Becker Mexico. Cool or what? Don't have a car to put one in, but I'm buying one anyway, because you never know when one will come in handy, and as soon as you want one, you find they're no longer being produced. Hope to pick up a '70s CSL some day to go with it.

Thanks for that. I agree about the cheesy LCD displays, was hoping the amp could go in the boot next to the changer.
3.0 csl- apple green? Most agreeable choice. Better buy know while they're 'only' 20k

I want a white one. With stripes. *rubs knees vigorously* If I could get one for 20k, I'd buy two! I'm hoping very much to find a "batmobile', and the good ones cost over 50k

Anyhoo - I dug out the box from the last amp I bought. It's called the i-sotec. It's made in Germany by procar-audio and it's tiny. You'll find them on www.procar-audio.com. Relative to its size, it was pretty pricey I think....I seems to remember paying about 120 quid for it (last one on shelf, reduced from rrp of 230 quid). In any event, I've got a buddy here in Hamburg who helps me get all this stuff reasonably cheap. Great thing about the i-sotec, is that it is as easy as p*ss to connect because you only have to hook it up to the head unit rather than to all of the speakers. An audiophile would probably puke, but I'm only trying to get a decent ICE set-up that doesn't involve butchering or destroying my cars in any way - I'm not out to win any ICE awards. If you decide what you want, I could try to get it priced up here for you?
