Really? Story told by the Jackass guys was that Johnny Knoxsville taped his "self defence test" and wrote the article for Playboy to go along with it. MTV got hold of tape/article. Loved it. Approached Johnny & Jackass was born (and self defence test appears in epsiode 1 un-edited).

This was from an interview with Johnny, Bam & Dunn on an MTV special I saw ages ago?

This is true, but Johnny used to write for a Skate mag called Big Brother, Bam is a pro Skater and quite a number of CKY clips are featured in Jackass (ie the CKY clips came first).

Not 100% how it all came together, it just did.
