door hinges- tighten up?

Folks, can the door hinges/bars be tightened at all?
when i open either door, it just swings out with no resistance untill it reaches the end of its travel ( bit embarrasing in car parks when it whacks the car next door). I've tried a friends cerb & his has resistance allowing the door to stay at any angle you want.
any ideas?
