Hi, having sold my 911 (996) earlier in the year, and then having bought an Esprit GT3 which I kept for the grand total of 6 weeks, I've now decided to go for a 355.

Not being mechanically minded at all, and due to the fact that private sales are rarely local, I need an independent mechanic with experience of Ferrari, to be able to do an inspection (or 2) on my behalf. Not necessarily a full blown inspection, but someone who'd be able to advise as to whether anything major is going to need doing soon as well as carry out a compression check.

An inspection is particularly important, as I'll be looking at the cheaper end of the market, and will not be expecting anything more than a 10-12 year old average condition, average to high mileage car. (The car will be for sporadic use only/no track use).

The first one I need someone to look at is a repaired CAT D in Rotherham.A.S.A.P.

Can anyone help?

You might get someone from Italia AutoSport (Halifax area) to check over one in Rotherham for you for a reasonable fee. I doubt they'd warantee against their checks though.

I hear that RAC has a specialist department for checking and waranteeing Ferraris now?

Be careful with the CAT repaired car, regardless of what the salesperson says - it's worth atleast 25% less than a similar straight car

Give Dion a call at www.elmscollection.co.uk - car broker, he'll be able to tell you what's about, he's been a star with the purchase of my new car....

Hi. Read your post with interest as I have a 1996 355 GTS for sale. Check out the latest 355 ads on the site.
I've had approx 6 months of blissful ownership and I reluctantly have to move on. Part of my business is car sales and I can't justify having this much money in one car.
I would dearly like to find some way of hanging onto it and had even looked at leaving it with a rental company and receiving an income when it's rented but I don't like the idea of other people abusing it!!
You won't regret buying one, I still get a thrill every time I use it, it hasn't missed a beat in the 2000 miles I've covered including this years Le Mans trip, no dramas or tantrums that I was lead to believe Ferrari's suffer from. Reaction from other road users has been nothing but favourable and I've got used to the familier site of the car in front pulling over and at the same time winding the window down to get the full aural treatment as you pass.
Please contact me for a chat and your welcome to come and have a look anytime. This was by far the best car I could find and got fed up looking at lashed up rubbish and I didn't want LHD, a Berlinetta or Spider and any other colour than Rosso Corsa and the light interior.
Good luck in your search, you'll love it when you get one.
Regards
