My 1991 400se does NOT have it. Sort of depends on the day of the week the car was built, the stock on the shelves at that time etc etc

Mine's an '89 F and it has....

Plus it's plumbed into the alarm so I can unlock using the plipper.

My 89 'F 400 has it too, though i'd refer to it more as electric door locks as central locking as on mine both the actuators are 'slaves' and therefore only work with the alarm and not with the key, if you get what i mean. i.e unlocking the drivers door with the key does not unlock that passenger door. Needless to say i use the alarm blipper all the time.

Got me there!
I'm not sure I've ever used the key

I'll have to have a play next time I dig it out the garage.

Thanks guys i have noticed that when i turn off the ignition i get a bleep/bleep/bleep sound like an imobiliser. I have no blipper i enter by key. perhaps the immobiliser/Central locking has been disconnected.

It could be your stereo thats bleeping. I had a old sony tape player in mine when i first got it that bleeped a few times 10secs or so after the ignition was turned off. At the time i too thought it was the alarm imobiliser...

Yeah, my Sony unit does exactly the same!!! I think its designed to remind you to remove the face/unit.

As it appears in my 1991 Price/Options list, central locking system was an option. Probably true about 'whatever they had laying around the factory at the time.' I purchased a 450 last March, and it does not have it. Nor does it have seat piping, just black half leather seating

Nope. Some cars had it... some didn't.... Others had it as a dealer mod/option.

Mine's an '87 like Nacnuds, and I get central locking on the alarm, but not just with the key.
