Bridgestone to be single F1 tyre supplier for 2008-2010

Who are seemingly providing special bespoke tyres for one team at the moment and lower grade tyres for their other customers.
Wonder what F1 2008 will be like. Another red steamroller?
As expected, Bridgestone has been confirmed as the official tyre supplier for the Formula One World Championship from 2008-2010 after a meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris.
With Michelin having announced prior the Canadian Grand Prix that it would not be applying to become the sole tyre supplier from 2008-2010 – stating that 'Formula One should, as motorsport's cutting-edge discipline, be an arena where the most advanced technologies can do battle in the interest of motoring' – Bridgestone was the logical choice to get the nod as the Japanese company is set to be the sole supplier next season anyway with Michelin withdrawing from F1 at the end of the year.
I'd liked to have seen Goodyear back in.

With one tyre and the stop to engine development, is F1 really going to improve?
More time and money will be spent on aero packages which in turn will create a larger area of "dirty air" with more effect on the following car. Am I missing something here?
Also, what will happen to the Toro Rosso's engine, surely they can't keep using the limited v10?
