We are working on shedding 100kg from the 996GT3RS. That will bring a non aircon car down to 1230KGs.... Which will be nice!

Will keep you guys updated.

I've got some good ideas :

- remove the cage + harnesses.
- remove the fire extinguisher.
- fit smaller brakes.
- fit smaller wheels + tyres.
- fit a smaller fuel tank.

Are these the lines you are thinking along Steve?

Are you racing the car?

If not, why are you wasting your money trying to gain tengths on a track day? Even if your aim is to go that bit quicker and if I remember correctly you tow your car to most tracks, then why don't you just buy a cup car?

This is important info. Where is this Fish and Chip shop? There's meant to be a nice new place near Aldgate.

Doubt if it would care to be called a "chippie" though ...

The best chippie is undoubtedly Master's on Waterloo Bridge Road - you can be absolutely certain of this from the number of black cabs parked outside.

It doesn't seem entirely appropriate to be discussing a chippy on a thread about losing weight - come on guys - back on topic please!

Mr Rance, please don't tease us like that!

What route are you taking??

100kg is a considerable weight to look to shed....

I would expect this to involve carbon doors...maybe Tim's special wheels?

Plastic glass throughout excepting the front windshield of course.

Carbon backed race seats...bolted to the floor, saving the weight of seat runners.

Delete carpets and sound proofing throughout...

Lighter exhaust.....I know you guys won't be going back to PCCB though whatever the weight saving

So what have I missed???

How does the target weight compare with Tims "red" car??

On the basis standard cars are 1400kg....1230 is quite a target>

It's your car, but once again....as we have said before and Mark mentions in this thread...why not a cuppie??...It's already there and you don't have the hassle expense and potential depreciation of chopping the GT3RS about .

For the record,,,,,,Sweetings skate in black butter sauce has usually been my selection over the last 20 years..........still got a long way to go to catch Vic up though

I doubt the RS will have any surplus 'fat' - I've removed near 80Kg from my C4 - all rear seats, carpets, side panels, front storage carpets, plastics etc Removed another 20Kg by removing the A/C (totally), replaced the battery with a much smaller one 45Ah vs 80Ah (saving 3Kg..)

Car now sounds like a cup car inside but sounds great ! Only issue is putting it all back together again ... ;-)

PS - Disagree entirely on the 'waste of time' post - I have noticed a significant change in the way the car handles, brakes and is generally more 'nimble' even if it has only lost 100ish Kg's (on a heavy C4). Two C2S's at Bedford the other week certainly didn't believe it was a standard (but lightended) 300BHP C4 when I passed them ...

the words nice and aldgate should not be used in the same sentence. unless its something like; i got stabbed near aldgate but it was a nice clean wound. have to agree about sweetings, although a regular diet of lobster cream bisque's will soon outweigh any poxy 100kg weight saving on the car.

How Steve chooses to spend his money is non of my business - I am just trying to understand the rationale behind stripping an already very fast track car! An alternative is that he could sell the GT3 RS and buy a cup car which would be quicker and pocket the difference!

Re. stripping your car, each to their own... but sounds like you will be drving around in a very hot and noisy tin can when not on track!

Car is a track mule so not an issue - mind you did regret removing the a/c on route to a track a few weeks ago ! (god it was hot ..) - Mind you that's another way to shed pounds !

1. No
2. Because it consumes consumables a lot slower ( ask any 964Rs or 993RS driver), is nicer to driver and quicker.
3. I rarely tow anywhere
4. It's a fun excersise.
