OK, my 05 VXR is now telling me my 15,000 service is due and its not even reached 9,000

I know this is something to do with the mismatch of the Miles/KMs on the computer.

My question is: How do I reset service indicator

I will then add to FAQ page

Probably miles/km yeah. Its been posted before.

Someone will confirm, but its something like turn on ignition while holding down the mode button, then cycle through the options with the arrows till you see "reset" come up, then I think its mode again to reset.

have exactly the same problem
had the car serviced on purchase at 8000 miles and asked them (archie moss)to make sure the indicator was reset which they failed to do said they had a problem with there software and could i come back in a couple of days for them to have another go which i did,
when i returned they said they still could'nt reset it and thought the reset could only be done after the 10,000 miles were reached thinking this odd i had a go with the way i found listed in a thread on this forum

Clap your hands!
Turn the ignition off
Whistle the Wombles theme song!
Press and hold the trip computer UP and DOWN arrow buttons
close one eye!
Turn the ignition on while holding the buttons
Put on a stupid hat.
After approximately 3 seconds, release the buttons.
Proclaim that Australia will win the Ashes!
The service menu appears with a reset request.
Put your hands on top of your head
Press and hold the SET button for more than 3 seconds.
Shake your head.
Press the MODE button
Think of something else silly to do!
Turn the ignition on

which worked perfectly for about 20 miles
so i still havent reached 9000 miles and my service indicator is flashing 15,000 mile when the ignition turns on and off

Try........

1/ Turn ignition ON
2/ Press throttle to floor 5 times
3/ Turn Ignition OFF
4/ Wait 3 seconds
5/ Turn on

this is for 6.0ltr cars

tried that one first but had no luck (is the timing critical if so may try it again)

Have done it 40 or so times on different cars and always worked......only thing I do is make sure I let the pedal right up on the five pushes..

There are a couple of versions of the BCM so I might just have been lucky......

I know there is a problem with Tech II that they cannot reset the service light below either 8,000 or 9,000 miles on the Monaro (sorry I can't remember which)

Maybe this is a limitation on the other workaround too

OK, using the above as a guide, here's what I did

1. Whilst holding up/down, turn ignition on and wait for the beeps
2. Display showes "Service Reset?"
3. Hold "SET" for until it beeps
4. Display shows "No Items"
5. Turn off ignition

It remains to be seen if this has actually done the job

Thanks B055, mine was displaying 20k service due from this morning (I have only done 11k miles), tried the above and seems to have worked perfectly.

Why are we getting these though? Even more interesting why was B055's showing 15k service due when it is supposed to be every 10k miles?
