For the first person who can tell me the size of the bleed nipples on my 1988 mini.

Front are 3/8 UNF I think, but not sure of much more. But haven't got a clue about the back.

I'm working off memory here but I think 6.5 or 8 mm.

Don't really want the donkey though!

ok after googling for 15 years I've found front 3/8 UNF and rear 1/4 UNF. But what about the actual lengths?

Rear are 1/4, front are 10/11mm depending on quality of spanner thet are about less than inch in length

your local motor factor should stock them.
