Nelson Piquet to Renault for 2007

Good choice.
I'm not so sure. I personally think that he's there firstly by name, rather than ability. Not to say that he won't develop into a decent driver, he has more talent that Matthaus Lauda, for example, but I don't think he's in Hamilton's class. But what good PR for Renault eh?...he's not managed by FBM though, which could be a pointer for the future too.
By name? Does he have a relation who was a famous driver? I didn't know that.
I always thought that Heikki rose to fame by winning the Race of Champions 2004. His championship win in the World Series by Nissan (now Formula Renault 3.5 World Series) is also a notable achievement (which is how he got the RoC 2004 drive in the first place). He has a solid CV anyway:
* 2005 GP2 Series, 2nd
* 2004 Formula Nissan World Series, Champion
* 2003 Formula Nissan World Series, 2nd
* 2002 British Formula 3, 3rd, Rookie of the Year (5 wins, 3 poles, 3 FL)
* 2001 British Formula Renault, 4th, Rookie of the Year (2 wins, 2 poles, 3 FL); Macau GP, 2nd; Malboro Masters, 4th
* 2000 Karting - Finnish Formula A, 2nd; Nordic Champion; Elf Masters Win
* 1999 Karting - Finnish Formula A, 2nd
