Brands Hatch – what a nightmare, only went to watch Chris Beighton race his orange Team Tiger Marcos, he was doing so well until he smashed it to smithereens - gutted, does this mean his season is over?

Will be very sad if it is, although I take it the title is out of the question now anyway after such a bad w/e.

The car went in hard (I was about 75 meters from the point of impact) but if there isn’t too much damage to the chassis it could be fixed relatively swiftly.

Hope they are out again as it’s great to see them take the battle to the 911s

I did see the car back in the paddock, it was in really bad shape although they didn’t seem to think there was any engine damage, the chassis looked very twisted – the team looked so disappointed, considering the age and the original value of the Marcos they really do take a good race to some very high tech bits of kit, lets just hope they get it ready for the next meet.

Ahh, a quick look as they were putting it on the loader at Westfield looked like a rad, a NS front corner + a new nose. even the wheel looked salvageable.

Very sad day if they don't come back.

Not a good w/e for the Morgan and Toyota boys either. Was very surprised at the Toyota, especially the colour scheme which i have to say is an acquired taste that i haven't acquired...

Any news on the Marcos, does anyone know if Chris Beighton is rebuilding for the next race?

The Morgan blew the diff and it was comprehensive bits everywhere! Then Billy Bellinger spent most of the night building a new one for the clutch to give out on the start line.....

Chris is racing in the Britcar 24 hours this weekend, so we'll probably find out then. The damage to the car was considerable, as you obviously saw; but he also managed to smash the dashboard with his head eek and from what I could gather at the time a rebuild would be unlikely in the short term.

There's always hope though.

Thanks for that, what a shame, what car did he use in the Britcar 24 hours?

team Tiger will not be at the final round at Silverstone in a few weeks. They said everytime they look at the car is not as bad as they thought but with out any chance of 1st or 2nd place in the championship there is no point. They are happy now that they know the reason for the Brands accident and it was a component failure.

In the 24 Hour they were driving with Oliver Bryant and his father in their Marcos Mantis which was new to them with this being its 1st outing.

I didn't see it go off but I did notice some marks across the grass on the exit of Becketts along with a light pod and some yellow plastic?

To be fair though, he was 'assisted off' by a back-marker.

The poor fella, he really is having a bad run recently, I just hope his orange team tiger stays in tact ready for next years Chaested challenge.

Haha, Just seen this thread.

Gotta go and laugh at my friend now (Chris Beighton's son...), it runs in the family - he's bonked a few cars off recently as well...

P.S. That's a joke, it was a car fault
