A1GP coverage - any highlights on 'normal' TV?
Discussion
Hi guy's,
Just wondered if anyone knew anything about the proposed coverage for the A1GP series.
I remember reading a while back that SKY were 'negotiating' a delayed highlights package to one of the terrestrial TV channels.
This seems to have gone a bit quiet and I can't find anything on BBC, ITV, SKY or the A1GP site - anyone here got any info?
Don't really want to fork out for SKY or Cable just to watch this really.
Cheers
Chris

Has anyone actually had any contact from the A1GP "Fan Club"
I registered at the start of last years season but nothing happened and no response was forth coming and again so far this year i have had a blank response. Same goes for net based merchandise. They just dont seem interested somehow and yet i love the A1GP concept and would like to feel that i was part of it.
cheers TJ

Seems to be going from strength to strength - www.crash.net/home~cid~83.htm
Apart from Jos Verstappen not making an appearance at this weekends race at Zandvoort (I wonder if he's recieved the called from Spyker F1 ) there are more entrants than last year with Greece joining the party.

A1GP should be on terrestrial. It has the makings of being a good and very well supported series. The reason for this is also arguably its downfall. None of the teams have any sponsorship as such - the money comes from gate receipts and TV rights.
In the UK, ITV wouldn't want something that competes with F1 and the Beeb don't have the money (or will) to pay for the rights.
Were I running their marketing - I'd be signing up the most popular newspapers in each of the team's countries as sponsors (The Sun for the UK team, LeMonde for France, etc..) which would then increase press coverage.

It just doesn't seem to be getting much mention outside of Sky or dedicated motorsport websites. It never gets a mention in any mainstream sports coverage.
On it's 1st start up season it got a big 4 page colour pullout in Metro (london daily free paper) .
The regular race reports were later only a quarter of a page at most....
