Half weight of car is the maximum towing weight. if your mini is 700kg, u can tow up to 350kg. But i am not sure if thats correct.

I think the recommended towing weight is 75% of the car if you use a braked trailer, however I think you should reconsider, and get a tent or a hotel room.
mini's were not designed as tow vehicles and nor do they deserve to be ridiculed by the rest of the motoring public, by having such a monstrocity following behind you.
Can you imagen doing a hill starthehe
P.s. did you see Top gear when they went caravaningnono

It's okay, I'm used to ridicule, the current daily is a 440 Ovlov (and I work with a bunch of rabid bikers!). Does anyone know the weight of a Mini?

It should say in the manual (if there is one) what the manufacturers max towing weight is. The Caravan Club recommend no more than 85% of the max laden weight of the car.

A Mini weighs about 650-700kg? so 85% = approx 600kg.

Thats a small caravan!

What about a trailer tent. We had one for a few years before we bought a caravan. They are around 550kg fully ladened. Huge inside and easy to erect after some practise. Also cheaper to tow, less drag.

Look at www.camperlands.co.uk/trailer_tents/sunncamp_trailer_tents.html

What about a B+B? Save yourself the ridicule of being a caravan owner. Or lease a caravan that's already in the area you want to stay? If you're into driving at all, you'll hate towing.
