I've never fitted one of these before and my Grandson got one for his 1986 Mayfair project on Saturday and we did a trial installation.
With the 3 gauges in the standard position, there seems to be a gap between the rear of the walnut dash and the front bezels of the dials. Is this normal? Also the angle of the dial faces is not parallel with the walnut dash.
Any advice would be gratefully received by myself and 'Cooperkid'.

Have never fitted an aftermarket dash to clubman clocks before always used a riley elf item on a centre speedo - on those the speedo attaches to brackets screwed into the dash, it would seem though that the minimum of bracketry is supplied on new items (let alone installation instructions) and you may have to resort to a few judicious home mods to get it lined up properly - third hand info but apparently the fit of some is pretty poor!

Hi Pete,
You might want to try over on www.minifinity.com/ possibly more their sort of thing.
I seem to remember something about cutting off the plastic brackets on the clocks..but don't quote me!

hi Pete, to get the clocks to fit flush you normally have to cut the indicator extentions off the clocks then offer them up again , a bit at a time is always good. ( i think its the indicators ) should be obvious when in front of you .

There are two tubes sticking out of the standard dash, where the indicator warning lights are. Thses have to be cut flush to the fron of the instruments or you get this gap,

Is that what you mean Peter?

So, I think what you're saying is that you dismount the 3 units from the black metal carrier and screw them directly onto the back of the dash, presumable with short relf-tappers, and to do this the tubes to the warning lights have to cut back to allow the dials to fit flush to the back of the walnut panel. If I'm wrong, please tell me before we make a start on this!
Thanks, guys.

Correct! See diagram here:

www.minimania.com/images/FicheCatalogs/1990/90_Card2/09elec/pages/90_2_J05.htm

Item 8 is the bit you need to cut down to be flush with the face of the dial housing.
