Hmm, looks fun 170bhp/580kg should go pretty good too driving almost 300bhp/ton

As always, pity I can't afford it one day...

ETA: Is there a particular reason for converting the 3S-GE motor to carbs in some of the Frasers etc? wouldn't it be easier to get better power and efficiency from an EFI motor?

If you're not worried about fuel consumption, rough low-speed running, economy or emissions, carbs can be as good as injection in most cases... and often a lot easier to fit in/work in a car like the fraser

FWIW, this is similar spec (from the looks of it) to Roger A's Fraser... and his is a weapon.... he eats my Elise down the quarter mile.... does mid-low 13s

Go the caterfield 7's

Do any segments of the quarter seem to suit the Elise over the Fraser? I would have thought that initial launch might have gone to the Lotus . . . the real one

Any VTEC Frasers out there somewhere. confused

If the 3S-GE fits the 3S-GTE should silly turbo torque curve might make it a bit less fun to drive though even though it would be faster.

Only if you plan on dropping below 4,000rpm hehe

Allot of people prefer carburation over injection as it can be more raw and sound a whole heap better. I think it also depends on the era of the car. I loved the mechanical fuel injection on the 911's. Throttle control was so precise and crisp. Very differant than anything else I've driven. On another note. Allot of people that have driven Drive by Wire can't stand them. No feeling to them.

The Elise launches out of the hole quicker than almost anything on the road.... I've been lined up next to very worked japmobile 4WDs and I still cut quicker 60-foot times.... it's just that by halfway down the track, when horsepower REALLY matters, I've only got 120 or so to play with.... and that's when it seems like I'm driving through a vat of treacle.

I wonder what Neill's v6 -powered monster does the 1/4 in-or the v8 powered Mcgregor built in Chch. I read recently of a caterham superlight doing a 10 second 1/4 on a bumpy track at the Brighton speed trials.

You've obviously not seen my ever expanding collection of stonechips, I'd name them all, but the English alphabet only has 26 characters and there aren't enough ocmbinations of letters to make up individual names for each of them

Biggest problem is the lack of RWD engines other than the F20C. Im sure there must be one somewhere though, id imgaine theyd go together perfectly

Theres an F20C powered Toyota starlet races in the SI club events. Sounds bl00dy awesome

theres another starlet with a Nissan CA18DET running around 300kw atw which generally beats it though

The Duratech is the thing to put in a Caterham/westfield/Fraser etc. Light, tractable and reliable. An absolute gem if you put it on throttle body fuel injection. I used to have Weber 40's but the Jenvey throttle bodies are better in every way - including the noise. (plenums smell....)
Spent the afternoon blatting around the Wirarapa in the 7.. Top fun on a sunny day.
