Montoya qualifies 2nd for this first ARCA race at Talladega
Discussion
Hope this isn't a spoiler for anyone but I like many perhaps didn't even know he was starting his ARCA/Nascar career today. Race starts later.
Juan Pablo Montoya has qualified second for the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Talladega, behind veteran Bobby Gerhart, who lapped the track at 189.485mph. Montoya's speed was 189.451 mph - an impressive start for an oval racing newcomer.

I like their heading "Gerhart Edges Montoya for Pork Pole at Talladega". Pork Pole? No wonder Montoya went so fast, he probably thought he racing racing for some Pork Pie.

He was - well, sort of...
America's pork producers sponsor both cars and races out there, under the "Pork - the other white meat" strapline, or similar. See here:

Presumably JPM was gunning for a large side of ham. Shame we can't have a Ginster's Pole award over here.

Not really trying is he. Big fat lazy sod.
Said with a touch of sarcasm I hope as his time was faster than the Nascar boys did at Talladega earlier this year - www.fastmachines.com/archives/nascar/003617.php

Just a tad yes. He's no Richard Hammond obviously but 189.5mph is fairly rapid in most peoples books.
I think Motors TV usually shows the races but can't remember if they do it late at night or not.
However if you want to know how he did without giving the result out to those who may be wanting to watch it later check this link - www.grandprix.com/ns/ns17600.html
