One of the Escorts misjudged a corner somewhat during the Waipori Gorge stage of the Silver Fern rally last week, with some unfortuate results:

Driver opened the corner out a bit too early, as soon as it came off the camber the car floated out wide, clipped the lumpy grass at the edge of the road, almost got it back on the road but didn't quite make it. Car rolled down the bank into the river (luckily landed right way up) then floated downstream a bit before they got out and tied it to a tree with the tow-rope to stop it getting away.

A few more photos of the rally still to come, but none of them turned out too amazing as the light wasn't much good.

Looks like a lucky escape - that could have nasty if they'd landed shiny side down!

A bit of damp-start in the carbs and she'll be right...

hehe It was the 2nd last stage of the day, and they had a rest (aka car fixing) day the next day so they had it up and running again for the next leg. Seats may have been a tad damp though.

I take it he couldn't restart and rejoin the rally because he used too much throttle and flooded it?

Thankyou, I'm here all week.

LOL - Can't believe they got it going so quick. Brilliant.

May be they'll be able to fix my misfire. :-)

The comma is in the wrong place and the last word is spelt incorrectly

Try the veal . . .
