why do people miss the point with jokes?

if we cant poke fun at the more serious things in life then its a poor do IMO. lighten up, everyone has a condition/illness/is of a different race/religion/area whatever that can be poked fun at in some ways.

p.s i take it this was started with the traffic warden 'whats you disability' joke?
