just reading through all the info that came with my mark 1 mx-5 and i discovered it is a type S...what exactly does this mean? is it just one of mazdas limited edition versions, or does it differ from the standard model somehow? it is a k reg 1.6 import

Yup, but no leather. Will also have 14" BBS wheels as standard. It also appears to have lighter weight carpeting and sound deadening. Basically a ligher weight, better handling model - although it does ride harder. Usually available in Black, but sometimes in light Blue.

There was a Type II that had 15" wheels and in a dark Green Blue Metallic.

chers for the quick replies it is black and its ride is quite harsh, tho handling is brilliant. It also has a yellow strut brace fitted, is this standard? excuse me being thick but what exactly is a viscous diff?????????

That is right, forgot that one. There is a yellow front strut brace as well.

Hi

The Oxford Area MX5 Owners Club have a great list of all the different 5s and their specs. Click here

Scroll down to the Help-FAQ etc section on the left hand side and there is a Roadster Guide.

makes my old e36 325i coupe seem like an old mans car, not even missing the extra power, it had. think that is the sign of a good car

Sideways on demand, increased sense of speed due to proximity of posterior to terra firma, enjoyable aural stimulation..
