I went to get some new tyres today and was duely informed that I have a cracked alloy wheel. Audi have quoted £610-00 for a new one...... uch: Anyone know of anywhere cheaper...... I've looked on the Bay and apart from the replicas there's not much out there.....
Another question would be are the replicas any good.... I can get a whole set cheaper.....

Is there a classifieds section on RS246.com?

First off, how the fug did you crack it?? Have you seen the crack yourself? Where is it situated on the rim??
If dealerships are honest, then i dont have a hole in my arse!!
Get a good wheel refurbisher to have a look at it. Chances are it will be hairline if anything at all, and they'll probably straighten and repair the rim with a full refurb and balance for around 100 quid. Good luck

I've seen the crack and it's on the inside of the rim. You can see it with the tyre on but it's clearer with it off. The odd thing is that I've mentioned to Audi twice that there is a small amount of vibration in the steering wheel (Mrs K Notices it more than I do to be honest) but they've never found anything wrong. I suspect that the crack has been there since I bought the car 18 months ago and the main dealer just hasn't really looked hard enough (It was the boys at Micheldever tyres that spotted it) I've bit the bullet and ordered a rim but I think tomorrow that I'll put the order on hold and explore getting the rim looked at by someone else.

I burst a tyre and a wheel on a pothole on my RS6 in February. In addition to buying an original to replace bent one, I also bought a good replica for use as an actual spare as opposed to using foam !!
Now that I have sold the RS6 to get a new RS4 I have the relica (still boxed)in my office. If you are interested then send me a PM and I will give you a good price.

I know they are large rims, but to crack one would take a decent knock up a kerb or such at 15 mph +, you would remember doing it i'm sure.
A cracked rim would throw the balance of the wheel out and give you the vibration at speed, most around 40-60 mph, and by the sounds of it, with all due respect to the audi tech's involved, they could have missed the crack.
There would be evidence of an impact too.
By the sounds of things the rim has to be changed, but should you be paying?

The guys at Micheldever tyres said they've seen lots of cracked alloys on RS model Audi's. They were not very complimentary about them in all fairness saying it's not the sort of thing you'd expect on a car like this.
I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new rim, which I pick up in the morning. I know that the wheel has been damaged since I bought the car but you can bet Audi will not pay anything towards it now.

It is im afraid fact that the 19's buckle and crack easily !
No idea why, I had two mildly buckled on mine, and I believe
that this happened just by running through minor pot holes.
