Bit of a strange one, but I want the fastest thing I can get with a towbar. This is needed to tow my race bike around the country.

The ideal would be an RS6 Avant but they are not homologated to tow.

I am looking for a second hand motor up to £30k.

I think the fastest thing I can get in an Audi is the 2.7 A6 with an ECU re-program.
Any ideas??

Cheers,

Matt

Out of interest, Allroad 2.7T?

Is this an option with a re-map or would i just be disappointed?

I want to end up with something absolute min 280bhp.

Found an old thread mentioning the turbo S4 with a tow bar although Audi won't do this officially due to oil temp issues. I'll have to do a bit more research.

Now looking for an A6 2.7 T Q Sport

My RS2 has a tow bar ..... unfortunately it's not for sale. There may be others out there though.

Great fun outdragging others - with the trailer & Caterham attached.

Slightly off topic Jeremy, but were you at Virginia Water this weekend just gone?

If saw your porsche looked gorgeous. You have 3 cars I adore but I really do have a softspot for the RS2. As it stands I have an S2 which is chipped to 280bhp so not a million miles off the RS2 but nowhere near the same credability in my eyes.

Are you taking the RS2 to BT&P?

Yes I was, in the GT3.

Probably not - most likely to be the GT3 again. Now if there were to be a track day organised for Saturday at Silverstone I'd have an excuse to take the RS2 (mit Catertin in tow) ...

That GT3 looked awesome, I took plenty of pictures of it!

Do you belong to the S2forum by any chance? I would love to have a nose around a mint RS2 and see the difference in performance to a chipped S2.

I don't (at least I don't think so ), but I'd be happy to show you around the RS2 at a convenient event/gathering.

Well if ever you have a problem with the RS2 then just join up on the S2forum, it really is a vast wealth of knowledge.

Well its nothing like yours...but I can show you around the S2 too.

There's a nice looking urS6 in Pistonheads Classifieds with 320bhp. I've got a similar car which I've used to trailer the TR6 around from time to time, probably couldn't out drag much in such configuration though as the TR6 weighs as much as a small truck.

Sounds like you want something newer though.

I am not too worried about age, more mileage as I will do 30k a year so really want something with sub 60K on it.

Also I have ruled out the Nargo blue as its not conservative enough for work.

Still not sure what to do but favouring a newer B6 S4 4.2 as these seem to be getting down to the £20K mark. Only problem is I could not really justify having that and keeping my TVR.....

An indi has told me it is possible to fit a two bar to anything but RS4 and RS6 and even though the new S4 is not listed with a factory fit tow bar the removeable tow bar can be fitted.

Decisions decisions.
