I've been keeping my eye open for the 'right' 996 for some months & today spoke to my local OPC to find out if he expected anything new in / to keep me in his mind - good timing (maybe) seems he has a possible car coming in next week.

A bit of definition - I'm looking for a 02MY onwards Carrera (2). It will be my only car and I have a young son so think that although I travel light the extra luggage space of the 2 will be useful. I'm planning to have 2 sets of wheels, one with winter tyres which after several years of snow driving I reckon are more important than 4WD. (I'm based in Switzerland)

The car sounds good - owned by a regular customer who's trading it in for a new model, low milage (about 40,000 km), 3 years old and with an additional 20 hp which I presume is the X51 kit. However the dealer mentioned it had a turbo front bumper.

A couple of questions - first, does the official turbo / 4S bumper fit on the narrower 2 or is this going to be some after-market conversion? Second, given the car is a few thousand CHF more than I would have expected for a similar spec, is the X51 worth an additional price on a used car - what difference will I see?

Isn't it only the rear arches that are wider on the 4S and turbo?
In which case i'd hope it's a genuine front PU, which probably looks bloody nice on a narrow body car...

Are you sure that's not the 'Anniversary' 911 .. Came out in '03 to celebrate 40 years of 'la bete' , it has an extra 20 bhp , and a turbo front. You'll know it's the one , if it's got 911 on it's ass rather than Carrera .
.. Is it GT silver with chrome wheels?... That's the only colour they came in.

The turbo front bumper fits. I saw a similar car (pre-restyling, 98) with a front turbo lights, fenders and bumper. owner said it's all Porsche parts and it fits. for a post-restyling, you probably wouldn't have to change the lights and fenders. Make sure it wasn't after an accident, though.

I think to do the job properly to add a Turbo front on a non-turbo car without it looking out of place, you'll need to follow around with sideskirts and rear to match.... maybe.
