is there a good place to sell modified jap cars in the UK or a place that buys them?

No and no.

You are never going to get anything like what the modifications cost back when you come to sell.

What is it?

Probably worth putting it up on the specalist web sites for that model. Also the relevant mags you see in WHS (the two main jap ones have classified sections at the back).

try the specific car club forum, but don't just go on and make the first post the sale/advert unless you want a tirade of abuse. make it the second post.

and similar to the reply above, you will find out that your car isn't worth what you had "invested" in it. unless, like me, you define "investment" as when you invest in shares, the value always falls. silly

I thought that when I came to sell mine;

I bought her for next to nothing (swapped a car in fact) and modified her myself (she used to be black) and spent possibly 2K in total. Inc. tyres etc. Time comes to sell (I got fed up with the speedhumps getting caught on the bumper) and I look around at similar aged cars and mileage. It's worth about 2700. I HOPE to get 2900, so I think if I start at 3300 or 3000 to fellow club members I might get my 2900. Bear in mind it was June, show season, and she had 115K on the clock (but had 70K on a 2nd hand new engine).

I joined a local jap forum, introduced myself, happened to mention I may be selling her and I get a guy who wants it - turns up with 3grand cash! :O trouble is, between him saying he wants it and coming to view, I've got another guy, word of mouth through a friend, who is also interested!

Essentially they force the price up between them and I sell for £3500. Result!

So don't get despondent if you think a modified car won't sell...............go to the car clubs or advertise in max flower.

Its a supercharged Honda s2000 (about 340BHP) with a few more mods it would be like 400BHP+ pretty safely because the engine has been rebuilt. I know I am not gonna get what I spent on it (at least £15k) but I am wondering what its worth. I maybe not spending enough time in the UK to actually drive it much.

If the base car stock is worth £11k+ with the hardtop etc and the mods and work cost £15k+, would asking £20kish be ott?

Very difficult to say. You don't see many modded S2000 (certainly not to the extent of having a supercharger).

I would have thought it would have a very limited market (next to all the EVO / Supra / Skyline).

Its worth what someone will pay you for it but I think you would be lucky to get the £11k value for a standard car for it (if you had to sell at all quickly)
