996 GT3 & RS

Rather than keep chasing a 997 Gt3/rs for a premium I'm thinking of waiting until my ordered one arrives and going for a 996 in the meantime. The GT3 price seems to have dived and a mk2 can be had for £45k yet the RS is up in the high 60's. Now I'm a master of buying cars just as the arse falls out of the market, you know went from 996tt to 996tt cab losing fortunes on both (although will keep the cab as I'm well impressed) also brought an Exige just before the 240r and S arrived binnig 40% of it's value.
So I'm thinking sell Exige and buy 996 GT3 or ideally the RS until the 997 GT3RS arrives.

I think the Mk2's are easily the best value GT3 just now, with prices from £45-£50k in private sale. Prices have only dropped £5k from 1 year ago, contrary to another poster here saying "prices falling fast".
I'd be a lot more concerned about depreciation in the £90k 997 GT3's, looking 1-2yrs ahead, if that's a worry.

P.S. 996 RS great value too and I'd look to pay between £55-£60k on private sale, depending on miles. More if an exceptional one with minimal miles. Can't see a good one ever being less than £50k and quite possibly appreciate over time.
I love GT3's and like to try them all to make my own mind up (had Mk1 CS before, now MK2). I'm very cynical on Porsche's residuals for new cars nowadays though. Prefer buying something 2-4 yrs old, when the price has mostly settled.

IMO the 996RS market is shifting in favour of sellers. (forget for a moment the car itself).
The pool of cars which are quality but more importantly AVAILABLE at any given time is very small and it's getting smaller all the time as more are written off or bashed, on and off track.
I think £55k for a good car with <20,000 miles is both cheap and highly unlikely.
The critical issue here is that if 996RS owners all think like that (not implausible because the number of owners is very small) and don't NEED to sell our cars then you'll pay whatever an individual wants when the odd car comes on the market.
No doubt Clubsport will be on here shortly to say that 993RSs are better/faster/sexier/ help you pull more women etc.
