Was watching some old home movie footage from Avon park the other night.Had the Mcgee quadcam fueller running on it.

What happended to the car ? who was running /driving it, as I cannot remember.

The whole quad cam thing was supposed to revolutionise fuel racing, but it never happened, why ?

Oh, and the car had those silly little front tyres that were fashionable then as well...

Mark still employs the original body and wings.

If you look at the nose of the car it still carries the original black and gold colours that the Lovetts ran it with as a reminder/tribute.

The Australians run a simlilar motor called a Sanity in there Series.

I have a feeling Norm Wilding may of driven it even though the normal driver was John Lovett while his brother Stuart tuned it?

Wasnt this car the old Dick Lahaie Miller Gold car and was first driven by Steve Read with the more traditional Hemi motor at Avon Park?

Also didnt they then take there motor to Australia and Gary Page run it in a FC? Pommie Raider?

ETA: Here are shots of the FC from Phil and Garys Dragsterworld site:

Either lack of funding or the rigours of fuel racing made the McGee Quad Cam Fueller impractical. Simple but strong seems to be the way to go when trying to over stress such powerful racing engines.

Nice shots of Gary's tour down under, a few moons ago. For the eagle-eyed out there, note Kalitta Top Fuel pilot Dave Grubnic on the crew running Gary in the last picture.... I guess he wouldn't be quite as willing to help out nowadays! Lol!

I am more concerned by what Chris will say.

I will hazard a guess at 1986?

Amazingly I can date this pretty well after doing a little research.

I'm pretty sure the shot was taken September 19th 1982. Revel Rebel is in its original blue fendered paintscheme and note the AM/16 race number predating the car running in Super Gas and I'm sure its the day the back axle gave up. I have another shot from the same day which just about shows the Blue Way Datsun FC of Ronnie Piccardo in the background, who was at York along with Owen Hayward/Nobby Hills with the Houndog 10 Challenger and Tony Boden with Hitman Omni. Probably another load of pics dad has in his box somwhere...
