You have to say, it looks suspicious. The GATSO camera went up years ago and was plainly visible. So they stuck a piggin' huge electronic sign in front of it spewing out inane advice like "Have you brushed your teeth today?", perhaps so you wouldn't notice the camera just behind it?

Now I was coming over the flyover the other day and noticed a SMALL fluorescent orange square sign in the middle of the road at the end of the flyover between the carriageways which required me to take my eyes off the road and strain to see what it said."Don't Leave Valuables In Your Car" I managed to perceive as I drifted by, attention diverted away from the camera (no, I still know it's there). What, you mean take my valuables if I decide to park the car in the middle of the flyover?

A similar sign appears on the bus stop mid camera zone for all those people using the bus and presumably parking their cars on the flyover.....

Seems a plethora of official and pointless distractions. Is it mere chance, corporate stupidity or a conspiracy?

most camera locations arround cardiff are in locations to catch you out rather than accident black spots. the one just out of the bay tunnels going towards penarth for example. need someone with a tractor to help move it into a more apropriate place I was thinking the bay - as there's more than enough rubish in it for no one to notice.

If they are hiding it, they're using Guilt Offset Plan as the one on the A48m near the hospital had a sign 1mile back saying "permanent speed camera one mile ahead".

But then they revert to type by sitting on the next bridge along with a mobile camera to catch everyone who has speeded up once past the permanent camera

Our accountant at work was emitting huge amounts of smugness last week when he spotted it whilst pootling along watching everyone slamming their brakes on. He said it was on a bridge just past the fixed camera. I've never seen anything around there myself, but I hardly ever go that way.
