Cant comment on 2004> reliability but my 02 car never let me down once, even though it was on 110k miles when I sold it.

Subaru is the only main dealer that I've used but the staff were helpful and courteous, and they always gave the car a valet before I picked it up, even if it was only in for a small job.

dad and mates impreza's have proved very reliable so far, depite being thrashed regularly.
alos subaru always seems to come top in the top gear/jd power surveys when it coes to reliability

when i owned one i didnt bother with dealers, there are many decent independents who are much cheaper. (eg chelmsford)

I've always got on well with Cheam's parts department. They haven't ever let me down - even when I phone them asking for hard-to-get parts for my type RA.

The only problem I've had in nearly 10 years of Impreza ownership is my (fairly modified!) RA gearbox giving up a couple of weeks ago.

My personal experience (not 2nd hand knowledge)

Scaynes Hill (site now closed) relocated to Gatwick - overpriced and the customer is never right
Proven, Haslemere - overpriced, inexperienced and the customer is never right
Culverwells (at Robertsbridge or Lewes) excellent depth of knowledge, cheaper, proper old fashioned service - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I have an MY00 with PPP which has never had any issues (except the Subaru UK added alarm)

oh and I popped into Subaru Williams (Shoreham-by-sea) and asked them if they could put a tyre on a rim for me...
Me - ...and balancing weights on the inside of the rim only please.
Service Manager - you can't do that sir; they might need to be put on the outside....
Me - no; use the stick-on type only please.
SM - oh... you want the stick-on type? I'll just go and check we can do that.....

Needless to say they'll never be getting any of my business ever.

I know Cheam are usually very good and come highly recommended on surrey scoobies site

www.surreyscoobies.co.uk/forums/index.php

Another is www.bell-colvill.co.uk/

The only thing that is putting me off my ownership is the main dealer servicing costs! I am in for a 50k servive next week and should be around £500 all in including MOT.

If you are looking for a independent in surrey take a look at Greenwood Racing Developments
www.greenwoodracing.co.uk/

I have had dealing with all three and i would rate GRD over the dealers for attention to detail and looking after the motor when it comes to servicing etc. but there is nothing to seperate cheam or bell colvill

Car ownership has been a good experience so far. running costs not to bad tyres can last for 20k if you go for a balance between performance and durability My car is 3 years on completed 50k miles and has not had any issues. I have some bits from the PPP pack installed and waiting for a indipendent remap to take the power from 225 to 280-290HP and around 280lb/ft torque (see GRD Stage 1 pack).

If i am being honest if i was to change car again i would use bell and colvill without a doubt, and also request them to source me a proven used car rather than changing dealer!

Steve

PS i got my 04 plate WRX from Bell and Colvill
