Does anyone have any experience fitting pipercross/K&N etc to their Elise? Doest it make much power difference, what is the best make and and where is the best place to buy one?

Cheers

If you fit the pipercross vecta cone be prepared for NOISE. It will give you a little more power (2-3bhp) top end. I have just replaced my pipercross vecta with the viper which is a carbon fibre airbox connected directly to the side air vent. its much more expensive but seems to have smoothed things out nicely and is a bit quieter.
If you want my pipercross you can have it for 35 quid plus p+p

Thanks for the offer... How many miles have been done using it and how much was the Viper?

vecta has done about 6000 miles, but will be as good as new after a good clean. Viper is 250 notes

Hi All

I see PTP are offering their induction kit at a reduced price at the minuite, apparantly it gives "as much as a 9% increse in power at the rear wheels"
www.ptp-ltd.co.uk

Any views on this

Sheesh, looks good but so it should for £275! It is only just an air filter after all!

Any more views anyone?...

Not really true, this depends on what type of system you are looking at, if you are referring to the ITG/PTP air box induction kit the trumpet design on the airbox recovers air pressure, I know of a few people who have this kit and are very pleased with it. Raceline do an uprated air box aswell but this is very different.

The ptp airbox makes more power, but is expensive for an airbox. You can also go for a dirct to head throttle body kit which more a lot more power, but cost a lot more aswell. And 9% is much, when you test an airbox and use ice it gains far more torque so don't think it's superb. If you'r low on money I would definitly put in a K&N filter which doesn't use foam like the pipercross airbox. I'm right though?

The PTP item is apparently a bitch to fit and is a huge great thing, but is supposed to be fairly good - expensive though.

Pipercross viper - easy to fit, definate improvement on the vecta and I am very pleased with it - expensive though.

Raceline airbox is just a modified version of the standard box with an aftermarket panel filter and a bigger air intake - you could do it yourself for about 50 quid (including filter)- expensive though

if you are willing to wait for a few weeks there is a dutch owner that has developed his own filter based on the 'Hurricane' which has a fancy little impellor thingy which will retail for around 140 quid which if it works will be a bargain. I'll find the address of his site and post it back here.

Pipercross vecta, k&n, blitz will all free up a bit of power, and give some induction noise and are the cheapest option.
