Hint...don't leave the oil filler cap on top of the engine if you're adding a drop of oil! I just did that on my 335d, accidentally nudged it and it slid off the engine cover and ended up at the bottom of the engine on the right hand side, underneath some pipework and resting on the undertray. There was no way I could get my arm down to where it lay, and the fact that it was nestled under a pipe made it impossible to get any tools down to it. Thought I was going to have to call BMW assist out and get the car trailered away to have the front undertray removed (and look a right plonker in the process!), but in the end my wife who's fortunately tall and thin in the Dutch tradition managed to just about reach it.

Gary.

Thanks for the tip, I need to top mine up tomorrow according to the computer (can't believe it doesn't have a dip stick).

I wish mine had an electronic oil measure...but for some reason the oil-burners still have to make do with just a dipstick (anyone know why?).
