Anyone on here booked in for the Nascar drivers parade thingy at Rockingham on May 11th
I appear to have bagged myself a space, and was wondering if anyone's staying over on Saturday night?

Raceboy - it's ASCAR on May 11th.
I'm thinking about it........same day as our Essex monthly meet. Rockingham is only about 1.5-2.0 hrs away so won't be staying over.

Hi raceboy, Yes were taking part in the drivers parade
(ta Pauline).We will be in the Giallo fly Yellow Chimaera,check it out in the members directory.
we won,t be staying overnight, as we are from the Mid Essex Region,so it's not much of a trudge up there.
i'll probably see you there.

Yep I'm down for the parade also.

I was in the parade last year and stayed over on the Saturday...can't remember which hotel...saves too early a trip from Essex on the Sunday.

Lots of people from the Mid Essex Brigade are booked to go...all thanks to Alf's original post to me.

I think the meet will be a little depleted in May but don't let that put you off going to Rockingham...should be a great event.....anyway....I could do with a meet where I can sit and eat a hot dinner!!!!!!

The instructions I got were 8am in the Corby Hilton carpark, apparently this was the plan last year, anyone know if this is the same this time, if so I'll get the hotel booked

Yep thats where we all met up last year. Makes sense we all met there again this year as its only a short hop to the track.

Do we have to book if not doing the parade? I believe all TVR's get free admision and paddock infield? I'm thinking of waiting nearer the day and decide then.

Well I couldn't be bothered to get up at 5am on the Sunday morning so have booked into the Corby Hilton.

So guess I'll see the Essex mob at the Corby Hilton early Sunday, as assume thats where we plan to meet?

We met at the Hilton last year and then convoyed to the stadium! + thats where we collected our paddock passes.

Well that's 2 of us then, not actually booked it yet, but before I do did you get any 'deal' off them, the cheapest B&B deal I can find is £75 for the pair of us, did you do any better than this?

Nope thats the best they could offer. I did book into a different hotel in Corby last year...but can't remember which one...so I guess I'm no help

Alf (or anyone) - do you know the procedure for getting in and just parking in the display area? I'm not doing the driver parade as I can't promise to be there - but can go at short notice for viewing and displaying in the TVR paddock.

Its my understanding that Rockingham are offering ALL TVR's a freebee for showing up both for the parade and show cars for the general public. Last year we got such a reception while we were waiting for the parade from the public and race engineers that they must have thought they are onto a winner by having our cars there...so clearly they want more of them!

I suggest that you send a quick mail to Dennis (the regional RO organising this event) just to check how you get access (you have mail). Basically what happened last year was that we all met up at the Corby Hilton and the Rockingham officials set up a back room where they dished out the VIP & Paddock passes to visitors. So I assume Rockingham will do the same again.

When you get an answer might be good if you published it on the same post for all to see.

Had an e-mail conversation with Dennis this week. He had already sent off for TVR passes - NO MORE LEFT! Unless someone drops out, it looks like I won't be going.
