Is it possible to buy threaded bar/rod that is threaded left on one end of the bar and right handed on the other end ?. It would need to be at least 1/2 inch diameter.
I want to start a subframe connector project and if i could find this it would simplify the design greatly.

thanks if you can point me towards any suppliers.

Any trading estate type engineering company should be able to make you one but you will not find it off the shelf.
I have seen a design of car scissor jack with that arrangement.
How about adapting this
or this

I very much doubt you'll be able to buy half left and half right hand threaded bar.

Made myself a rear strut brace a couple of years ago by using two M16 bolts and welding the heads together then dressing it up which left a nice wide hex to turn with a spanner. One bolt had a right hand thread and the other a left hand thread. I then turned down and welded the corresponding nuts into the ends of tubes which were then attached to the rear strut towers via custom brackets.

You might find that you can buy a standard turnbuckle that does the job, I'm sure you won't be the first person trying to solve this problem.
