I'm trying to get a mic working on my pc. It's a standard logitech desktop mic that plugs in to the onboard soundcard. The problem I'm having is getting it to pick up any kind of sound more than a few mm away. I've turned up all the levels and turned on mic boost but to no avail. Is the problem that my soundcard simply isn't amplifying the mic signal enough or is there a workaround?

Thanks,

Mark

Most likely that the mic is at fault. I had a similar problem years ago with a cheap mic, changed it and all was well. Still dont expect more than a metre away though.

Unfortunately I've tried 3 and they're all the same.

Also tried it on the laptop last night and it works fine.
