Welcome aboard!

You don't do things by half I see. Good man! A Ruf R is the finest car in the world IMO. It just has to be done! Some day I'd love one myself.

By the way, you look fairly young in the pics.

A beautifully written report. Trust the car is running as well as everyone hoped?

Is there running in procedure for a Ruf vehicle? or did I read correctly and the car was maxed out on collection.

Thanks for your kind comments!

The RUF is my Pa's

The engine was run in on a test bench by RUF before they installed it into the car.

We would love to know when the next Bruntingthorpe day is?

Adam,

That write-up on the Ruf trip is simply the finest I have ever seen on any message board anywhere in the entire world (and I spend over 5 hours every day surfing car forums).

Ruf is simply the master and I would love to add an R-Turbo to my garage.

You mentioned that you may have met me at the 'ring. Unless it was at the 24hr race last year, which I spectated at, it is probably not me, as I've not yet driven the 'ring in it.

It sounds like we need to organise the next Brunters Blast as soon as possible, so we can see what Rufs finest can do, although you might have to give about 30 passenger rides........

Adam,
Great write up, congrats!
I couldn't quite see on the pics, is your R turbo a wide body version or a narrow body?
And do you know what suspension setup RUf uses for the beast? It doesn't look lower than a standard Turbo.
How is the comfort on UK roads anyway?
And the noise? Nice music I suppose
Great car man!
Thanks for you replies,
Fanch.

What a fantastic write-up, and what a fantastic car!

I particularly like the bit about the snob in the C2 flashing you to move overm then you just leave him for dust!

Hope you're enjoying the car, I think that story really is the stuff that dreams are made of!

Er, I don't want to knock you (and I enjoyed your write-up ), but if someone in a clapped out Cavalier came up behind me on the motorway and flashed me to move over, I would.

Not intended at you directly, but who's the snob, the guy who refuses to be passed by an inferior car, or the guy who wants to make progress and you happen to be in his way?

I'm sure you gave it some welly just for the kick and not because you wanted to prove a point to the prole.

Like I said, great write-up and hope you have many happy miles in the RUF.

Fanch thanks for the nice words...

Here are some answers to your questions.
The R Turbo is a widebody
Its a medium suspension setup half way between GT2 and Turbo. It is actually quite a bit lower than a stock turbo
Comfort on UK roads is good. Obvioulsy not as good as an M5 but the bucket seats are just brilliant, and to be honest trips in the RUF dont take that long or are such an event it doesnt matter..its hard to explain but comfort though admirable isnt great but it doesnt matter
Under full accleration it sounds like a jet as all the air is sucked in

Derestrictor, glad you liked it but please spill the beans

Thanks super marv!

Harris, I dont think i was completely clear when i wrote that part...we were coming into a very confined tunnel..the speed limit was very slow and as a result there was a small queue of people already ahead of us in the fast lane...we felt that there would be no point in letting this rude person barge past us. So after about half a km the tunnel ended the speed limit was no non existent (thank you germany!) and the cars in front of us pulled into the slow lane, the rest was a severe mutilation!

DeR's at the Priory at present undergoing rehab. He keeps muttering "600bhp" and generally making very little sense. Critics would say no change there, but there's hope, I think. Every so often he is prone to expletive outbursts, something along the lines of "Who needs guttering?" and "200 is the Holy Grail".

If he can make it to a PC, I'm sure he will enlighten you at some stage. The nursing staff have asked me not to discuss his symptoms for fear of exciting him.

Hey Adam, is your RUF 4WD or RWD? I also understand that you can get the R Turbo in different states of tune, 520BHP, 542BHP and 582BHP, which one is yours?

Cheers,

Marv

BTW, big respect to your mum for doing almost 170mph at the 'ring! I suppose with a car like that, its pretty easy, but my mum bricks it when we go anything over 80!

Hi Adam, great write up. I have also experienced the same hospitality from Estonia and Alouis. Had my GT3 fully modified by them. Aloius casually gave me the keys to his RTurrbo earlier this year and told me to play with it on the motorway on my own. Of course since then can't get the experience out of my mind, simply a mind blowing car. Might just have to sell my soul to get one! Tell me, does your Pa have problems with ground clearance....i read somewhere recently that one of the options now is an in cabin adjuster for ride height. Mine's a nightmare in NCP car parks and especially Hotel car parks! Can be a serious and very embarrassing problem.

I've only officially seen the 550 option for an extra 6000 euro's. I have also heard of the 580 option from others, but nothing from Ruf though.

The car is 4wd...can you imagine my mum driving it RWD

The car has the 550bhp, however Mr RUF states that the engine is very strong...

Ground clearance isnt too bad with the new spoiler, however sometimes it can scrape but it isnt too bad..and its just one of those things if it happens

Thanks again for all the kind words hopefully see some of you guys at bruntingthorpe?

all the best
