This isn't really traffic related, but as its the plod section, thought I would post to see if I was over reacting or not

This morning, at 3am I was very rudely awaken by somevery loud music coming from the road that runs behind our flat, that our bedroom over looks. Its a quiet road, used principally for access to a timber mill and so instantly assumed it was just a bunch of kids being idiots.

As i came to my senses a bit more, realised it was actually the Rocky Theme Tune, being played at full pelt from what sounded like an external speaker, or atleast a car with every single door open.

As i get to the bedroom window, I can see 1 police BMW, 1 police astra, and a riot van. As it turns out, its the BMW playing the rocky theme tune. I know this, because the little shit bag starts driving up and down the road, serenading us all with the music.

I was totally and utterly dumbstruck by this. Generally, who the hell thinks they have the right to wake people up at 3am in this manner?? Why should the police be able to??

Can someone let me know if this is some unknown tactic and that actually this was all in the name of real honest policing?

I have a few friends in the force and have a lot of respect for them as some of the situations they get themselves into are situations I honestly dont think i could handle. This however, has left me feeling a little deflated in what you boys do

So, am I overreacting about being woken up at 3am? And what do I say when I am supposedly being called back today by the duty officer (?)

In my days with VHF radio we were subjected at night to atmospheric freak receptions when Radio Poland and in particular Southampton Police (similar frequency to ours)would burst out of our sets.

Nice moonlight night last night was it?

Could be freak.

But there again......

Duty office phoned. Apparently one of the members of the night crew has their public order practical coming up (?) and they were training on our back road.

One joker decided to play the roky theme tune to get him going

All fun and games, but it was 3am

I worked in Bath and we used to get Cardiff police better than our own on occasions. Very confusing at first, then you got used to the accent.....

Sounds like to me that they were messing about having a laugh. The public order excuse sounds like a load of rubbish!

Personaly find that the ride of the valkyries played through a van tannoy as you make progress towards a public order incident (pre midnight) always gets a few looks and makes you more ... well invigorated for the confrontation ahead

An atmospheric anomaly once caused the Guarda to come in at strength four on a Wireless Set No. 88 (Ch 4, IIRC ... it was a long time ago) being operated in Germany! I remember police and HMC&E radios along the South coast of England being drowned out by French commercial broadcasts in the '70s and '80s - Streaky

Is a bmw business radio capable of such decibels?
