Kind folk of PHdom,

Came upon a large and unsightly Parking Offence sticker on my windsreen this afternoon after parking on double yellows for all of 5/10mins whilst unloading something from my car, which was parked outside my flat.

What really boiled my urine was that someone had parked in my allocated space - necessitating the parking on 'Yellows.

I had scribbled a brief note to say I was unloading and that I would only be five mins. The Bcensoredd traffic warden must have litterally been round the corner.

So I want to contest it on the grounds that the car was parked outside my flat, causing no obstrcution and was there for all of 5 mins. How should I go about this and will the police get involved?

Ta

IMO - complete wast of time. You took the chance, you got busted.

My dad once contested a parking ticket. Ended up paying double what the original fine was.

Unless there are yellow markings on the kerb as well, I believe you are allowed to park on double yellows for the purposes of loading/unloading anyway.

I think you will need to contact the issuing authority, and if you can provide some form of proof that you were unloading, it will greatly help your case.

Find a loophole and contest it. I won £350 costs (for my research) last time I got a ticket...

Look into every loophole (what the signs say, the condition of the yellow lines, what the conditions are of loading/unloading etc). Write lots of letters, get on their nerves and be aware that you could lose more cash than simply paying the ticket.

I think Pepipoo has a parking ticket forum these days too.

i went to a shop came back and saw 2 parking officials in white and black put a ticket on my car just before i got away, i muttered something under my breath, they said 'did you swear at me?' i said no..they got a bit aggressive..a passerby told me to report them to the manager of the shopping centre that i was at, i did just that and told the manager that the parking attendants were aggressive and rude and he ripped the ticket up , thats the first and only time i managed to not pay a ticket when i have parked illegally

For some really bizzare reason, clampers are hated here on PH. I however have no problem with them whatsoever, and it is exactly this sort of thing that they are there for. Contract a clamping firm to ensure that if it ever happens again, the culprit gets screwed.

Then we can enjoy a post from someone ranting about getting clamped whilst using your space hehe

This is my understanding too. There should also be small rectangular signs on a post facing the road in the near vicinity.

For next time remember you can park on double yellows for up to 2 mins and up to 5 mins I think on single yellows regardless of purpose.

so one could park on one side of a narrow road with double yellows down both sides even if someone else was parked for the 5 mins on the other side, so blocking the road?
haven't got the h.code in front of me, but sure double yellows means no parking at all (except for disabled badge holders i think....)

Now obstruction is a different issue but detail for stopping on yellows is in the regulations - hence different legislation for red routes.

I once contested a parking ticket on the grounds that the parking bays were illogically marked, leading to less parking spaces than could have been the case. Didn't expect to get anywhere, but they (Newcastle Council) dropped the ticket and also repainted the parking bays as per my suggestion to create more bays. Result! Don't this it helps the OP though, except in that if you don't ask you don't get.

SOP today. It used to be that "We always prosecute shoplifters." Not any more. Now it's, "We always prosecute people who physically or verbally abuse our employees." I have no issues with this concept, but it's being increasingly played in the same manner as the "race card" and can be as hard to refute - Streaky

Is this a written regulation? Do you know where?
