Well, it had been a pretty good day today, until I came home to a nice letter on behalf of Bedfordshire Police.....

So, although i'll follow the usual lines of defence at the moment, I may well end up with 6 instead of 3 points. Question is, are any other classic TVR owners in the same position, and how much did the points affect their (presumably limited mileage) classic policy?

Cheers, and Bugger!

Tony

Three points did not afect my classic policy (AON), or my SAAB policy (Frizzel) but did afect my named driver status on my other halfs Tesco insurance policy (another £30), so she will not be using Tesco insurance again.

Ive used Tesco this year for the workhorse Mondeo, they've been a finniky pain in the arse so far, any excuse to slap another £30 on here and there

basically all stemmed from honouring NCD

theyre still cheaper than anyone else though

I picked up an SP30 in 1998 before I bought my 'M' and really worried about it affecting the premium but in the end most of the insurer's I called for classic (limited mileage) policies didn't even consider that I had points - especially as I owned and insured other mainstream cars.

I've just renewed both TVR policies with Footman James putting both cars on the same policy and they disregarded my points (even though other insurers ask for all convictions in the last 5 years to be declared).

Got both cars ('92 Griff 400 (4500mi) and '78 3000M (laid up)) for just over £500.

Thanks guys, it's not all bad news then I guess....

I've already got three from 2000, which I assume i'll lose once three years are up, so worst case scenario is that i'll have 6 until September. The Footman James method of ignoring them sounds interesting though - i'll be getting a quote from them then!

My Daily drives insurance is up for renewal next week -the first 3 points added all of £17 to it, just time for fingers crossed I guess!

Cheers, Tony

Most insurance companys ignore 1 speeding conviction such as an sp30, but two they will count.
