22B Cambelt change

When should the cambelt be changed on an Impreza 22B? It's my friend's car, had a new belt on it 3.5 years ago, and has only covered 11k miles since.

I can't imagine it would need replacing already, even as a safety precation, but then I've never owned a car with a belt...

IIRC its 3 years or 40k miles on a WRX of that vintage.

For the sake of £150 I'd be looking to have it changed.

If its left standing for a long while between runs its an even better idea to chnge it.
