Driving to work this morning in my 306 HDi with my 'sedate, lets see how many miles I can get out of this tank' head on and I was surprised when I got the offside wheel locking up under quite light braking on fairly even road surfaces. This only happened towards the end of my journey and I found that I could make it happen very easily.

This has never happened before, and as far as my understanding goes, surely this shouldn't happen to a car with ABS brakes, am I right? I have recently (1500 miles ago) changed the front discs, pads and tyres.

Any thoughts?

The only thing I can think of is that the wheel speed sensor for that wheel has failed but hasn't turned on the ABS fault light.

Is the wheel lock up occurring at slow speeds by chance? I know my Discovery will lock the wheels up under 5 MPH on slick surfaces.

It was a fairly slick surface, an old country lane where the tarmac has worn but I was doing around 30mph i'd guestimate. Cheers for the reply.
