Took the beastie out last night and it sounded like a bag of nails. To cut a long story short, I think its a blown spark plug in number 2 cylinder (process of elimiation, plus all the HT leads are fine).

Can I find anywhere in Milton Keynes that does NGK B7ECS - can I hell. Can anyone point me to somewhere that would sell them, or kindly donate one until I can source one elsewhere.

Why do these things happen at the start of Bank Holidays???

The B7ECS is classed as a competition plug, so generally it will only be kept by specialists.

However in case of emergency it is OK to use a B7ES, or BP7ES or BPR7ES or BCPR7ES (in order of preference). These are found in many prolemobiles, so you can usually get them in Halfords or similar. Note that the BCPR7ES has a small body, so you need the smaller spark plug socket to handle it.

You can also use the slightly hotter B6ES or BP6ES or BPR6ES, but it would be a good idea not to thrash the old girl (especially 5 Litre cars which usually run very lean) until you can get the correct item.

It could be worth checking that the plug is on the injector for that cylinder too.

Cheers Mark,

I managed to source them in the end (Motorserv in MK). However, I think the issue is much worse (aint that always the way!!).

I'm a complete numpty when it comes to engines, but I've noticed theres something loose on the body of the dizzy. Its the flat circular thing with a tube that connects it to the top of the plenum chamber. Anyway, this was flapping around. I've managed to re-attach it and things are slightly better, although it will be going into a garage next week to be checked over.

Bugger...
