Hi chaps and ladies (if there are any on this forum)!

I bought my 4 month old VXR 3 weeks ago. When I bought the car my only doubt was the question as to why the previous owner would trade in such a new vehicle?, hence I'm hyper sensitive to any niggles that may occur. Today I was parked on a hill, on a busy road, after a brief stop I got back in the ro and started it up. As I said it's a busy road, so when I went to pull away I had use a bit of gusto to merge into the passing traffic. When I booted it the dashboard immediately lit up with the 'engine check' warning but after about five seconds it went back to the normal display. Is this something I should get checked out?

Nothing to worry about, they do it all the time, just one of those things..

Sorry to have to tell you, it may have been registerd 4 months ago, but it was built in 2005, same as my 05 plate. Thats when they last imported them into the UK.

It's not unusual for Monaros to change hands frequently and have low mileage. They are often bought as weekend cars and some people chop and change often.

I'd get the oxygen sensors checked if you are concerned. One of mine is a bit lazy after 2000 miles. It's likely all the sitting around doesn't help.

Are you sure it wasnt the oil level warning light?
These cars are known for oil starvation. Check the oil level it should be at or slightly over the top of the fill mark at all times.

I would get the car to a dealer and get the code read out so you know what the fault is and it can be fixed.

If its any consolation I have a check engine event on a daily basis, and it doesn`t record itself. The fix...... new O2 sensors (when they get here)

Been getting regular check engine captions on every drive without fail since I've had mine too. Will be going in to a dealer on Monday to have it read, along with a couple of other things.
