Its very true speed doesnt kill, lack of awareness does. This is my friends Galaxy after his wife had an error of judgement.
Two kids and the parents walked away, which i find amazing.

yikes Must have been a massive shock for everyone involved.
Still that's a Five Star Euro Ncap rating for you!
If that was a Noble it would look like a Dover sole i'd imagine.
Seriously makes you think about the lack of any real world protection in the Noble.scratchchin

Right, it would take a very low speed side impact to the Noble to do nasty damage (at best)! [Some of us] go from our Nobles to/from cars with multiple airbages and gazillions spent on safety - one of those crazy things in life we accept I guess! eek

A wild guess, it's hit the corner of a truck trailer or something similar.

Spot on, hit the rear of a truck at a slight angle. Basically my friends wife is is a learner driver and was driving at the time. My friend was in the passenger seat when his 2yr old started playing up and took his seatbelt off. He leant round to do him back up and thats when the impact happened. It appears his wife looked round to see what was going on and clobbered a stationary truck at about 50-60mph.
Unfortunately his little girl of 1yr took most of the force on the drivers side in her chair and suffered fractured leg/arm/skull, although she is on the mend.
Agree, thank god, that he and the family were in such a safe vehicle otherwise it would have been so much worse. It undoubtedly saved their lives.
It does make you stop and think, how many of us hoon about enjoying our cars, when all it would take is some idiot and a very light impact to mame or kill us.

And how is your friend seeing he didn't have a belt on and was not seated forwards to assist the airbag design?!

Given the damage to the cell I think they were very very lucky to survive that.

I didn't realise learners were allowed to take passengers etc? I know one person with a license can accompany for practise, but taking a baby out is a somewhat surprising choice. Still not as mad as the bloke at the ring 2 weeks ago with a baby in a recaro baby seat, cycle helmet and the driver in a proper helmet and driving gloves!

It's good that everyone is still alive but it does seem a tad daft for a learner to have thier own young kids in the car and would naturally be easily detracted.

There have been a few big, 70mph+ accidents in Nobles with no reported serious injuries. The Noble seems to hold itself together well.

Not sure on the ruling about carring children. She was due to be tested this week so her compenency should have been okay. Been driving for years in another country but not recognised here I think.Phil never actually removed his belt and managed only to get cuts. RE Nobles in accidents, I doubt they absorb impact well as there don't seem to be at crumple zones built in. Suppose it all depends on the force and direction. Phil says he has got a vid of the wreck too. Will try to post once I get it.

I agree Justin though, IMHO, not as well as is required. What I meant, though didn't make clear, was that the side impact protection is non-existent. This concerns me when sitting at a junction in the T-bone position sometimes! eek

Side protection is, as you say limited, just the chassis around the door opening. Fortunatly it seems T-Bones are very very rare.
