Take a look at the average intelligence deployed on a PH thread.

Compare this with the average intelligence displayed in the comments threads on YouTube.

Then ask yourself, even if the relative legal standpoints have absolutely nothing at all to do with this, would you still want to risk disturbing the Status Quo just to find out?

Im quite intrigued by this.

How come there are several major sites out there that people can say what they want.

When it comes to forums there is a worry of legalities.

Why one rule for one and another rule for the other?

Does anyone know about why it is?

PH isn't a democracy, never was - it's a commercial enterprise.
As said, their gig, their rules.
You agree to the conditions when you join.

Might it be because PH is a UK entity and all the others mentioned are American? Different laws maybe?

That doesnlt answer my question. Using that argument the same would be true for youtube.
Youtube do often attempt to remove copyrighted videos, I doubt soem amature film (which is probably filmed legaly) can cause legal trouble for YT, discusion of it could but this may depend on the laws where YT is hosted.

The rules state that pistonheads are not liable for your comments. It's at the bottom of every page!
NO, the disclaimer states that. Different thing.

Is anybody getting emails saying your post has been removed as it's "out of contex" (sic) or "unnecessary comment"...?

Or is it just me...?

Plus it is far from watertight.

It's not just PH.

If you look at facebooks Ts & Cs - you'll see they are almost identical (in fact scarily so).

Youtube is massive so they get missed and Facebook is not a public site you have to be a member to view, plus I suppose it's big as well. With most things they won't get removed until it's reported.
